About Liz
Liz was born in Mexico City and immigrated to Canada at 5 years old. Her family lived in a motel and then a 2-bedroom apartment with 6 people. As a child, she felt financial shame and stress which led to constant anxiety attacks as a teenager. Liz was terrified about the cost of living and tuition as she prepared for university.
She then discovered personal finance blogs and started applying what she learned. She worked multiple jobs, started side-hustles, paid herself first and invested. By 26, she had paid for her university tuition, traveled to over 20 countries, bought a house and had a 6-figure net worth. She quit her government job in 2018 and ran Ambitious Adulting full-time, teaching other Canadian millennials how to confidently manage their own money.
Liz runs events, workshops, courses and speaks at corporate events. She also partners with financial institutions to create engaging content for Canadians. She is active on social media with over 50,000 followers across platforms.
She’s been featured in BNN Bloomberg, Moneysense, CBC, The Hamilton Spectator, The Globe and Mail and more! In 2019, she hosted her own show about personal finances on Cable 14 called… Ambitious Adulting.
